Act 5, Scene 4, Set

deforestation

In act 5, scene 4, Malcolm and the English lord Siward create a strategy of having every soldier cut down a bough and carry it to disguise themselves. This strategy could have great short term benefits such as wining the war. However, there is a long-term disadvantage of this strategy, deforestation. I imagine that if every soldier were to cut down a bough, the forest would eventually look like the picture above. The sudden decrease of trees could affect the environment very negatively.
